SENS Minor PeeWees Win Marlboros Friendship Tournament

With the calendar turning to September, it means that kids are back to school and the new hockey season has started. There are a variety of pre-season tournaments that teams can participate in to get ready for the upcoming season. This year the Sens Minor Peewee team partook in the Toronto Marlboros International Friendship Tournament and was crowned “Tournament Champions”.

The coaching staff attributed the win to all the player’s teamwork and work ethic with each player embracing their roles whether it was a timely save or a much-needed goal.  In the championship game, each forward found the back of the net and the defense was able to shut down the opposition. The Sens were able to come together in a very short period of time, which is not always easy to do in a tournament.

Like the regular season, tournaments have their ups and downs. The tribulation for the Sens Minor Peewee team came during their semifinal game as the team was down 2-0 early in the first period and was trailing 3-2 with less than 5 minutes left in the third. The Sens continued to battle hard and ended up tying the game late in the third to force overtime. The Sens were able to capitalize on the momentum and ended up scoring the winning goal in overtime to seal their ticket to the championship game.

The coaching staff is extremely proud of their team and wants to build on the momentum that this win has generated as they start the regular season. This team puts in an honest effort every time they step on the ice and battle until the final buzzer, while supporting each other. These key attributes will no doubt lead to many more successes this season.

The Senators organization would like to wish the Minor Peewee’s good luck this season and we look forward to seeing you grow both on and off the ice.

Congratulations on a #SENSational tournament.
