What a season the Peewee team had. After claiming the GTHL Championship, the Peewee’s prepared themselves for a bigger battle- The All Ontario Pewee AAA Championship and once again they came out victorious.
The Peewee’s were no strangers to victories this season claiming the championships at the Toronto Red Wing Early Bird and the Motown Classic Tournament. The team battled through many injuries and suspensions over the course of the season and head coach Chris Stevenson recognizes that “the coaching staff is very proud of the team’s ability to pick up the slack no matter who was out of our line up”.
This is not the first time the core of the team had been to the OHF Championships. In their Atom season, the 2007’s also came out on top as OHF Champions.
Throughout the season, the Peewee’s recognized the importance of working together as a team. “I don’t think it’s possible to accomplish an OHF championship or a GTHL championship without a complete team effort and timely contributions from all players. Our backs were against the wall in both the semi-finals (trailing 2-0) and in the finals (giving up a 2-0 lead) but in both instances the boys never gave up and the results followed. We took the lead with under 5 minutes left in the semi-finals and with only 30 seconds remaining in the finals”.
The Mississauga Senators would like to congratulate the Peewee’s on their #SENSational season and OHF Championship.
